  • WHAT STANWAY AND WIEGMAN SAID

As per Kathryn Batte of Mail Sport, the conversation between Stanway and her coach went as follows:

Stanway: At the moment I'm spending all my time trying to find my suitcase because it didn't turn up when I landed here on Monday. At the moment I'm just trying to locate where it is.

Wiegman: You don't have your football stuff?

Stanway: You don't know that story!

Wiegman: If you need some stuff from me that's fine.

Stanway: We had a little bit of a drama because it got left in Germany and I had nothing. But a U23 player, Freya [Gregory], I was able to wear her boots for the first two days.

    Wiegman: *gasps*

Stanway: And then we sent Maria to the shop last night. But hopefully, my suitcase will turn up in the next few days. The biggest lesson I learned was to put your boots in your hand luggage.

Wiegman: I thought you would have learned that a long time ago on the pathway!

Spurs: Romano drops Conte update

Fabrizio Romano has dropped an update on the future of Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte.

What’s the talk?

In a recent post on Twitter, the Italian journalist revealed that, following Tottenham securing a top-four finish in the Premier League on the final day of the season, Antonio Conte is now set to meet with Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici in order to discuss his future in north London in the coming days, with talks between the two parties expected to progress quickly.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/tottenham-hotspur-latest-news-updates-transfer-rumours-gossip-spurs-thfc-conte-paratici” title= “Read the latest Spurs news, transfer rumours and more!”]

In his tweet, the transfer insider said: “One to mention: what incredible work by Antonio Conte. Tottenham are now back to Champions League thanks to their manager, masterpiece by Fabio Paratici to convince him 6 months ago. Antonio will meet with Spurs board in the coming days. Talks will progress soon.”

Supporters will love Romano’s update

Considering just how impressive Conte has been since his arrival at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last November, Romano’s update revealing that Levy and Paratici are set to meet with the 52-year-old in the next few days in order to discuss his future at the club is sure to be news supporters will love.

Indeed, taking over a team who were languishing down in ninth place in the Premier League standings, the Italian turned Tottenham’s form on its head, with the club picking up 56 points from a possible 84 over their last 28 league fixtures – results which saw the Lilywhites secure fourth place and, subsequently, Champions League football in 2022/23.

Furthermore, Tottenham’s Conte-inspired January signings of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur both proved to be huge hits, with the former scoring five goals and registering eight assists over his 18 top-flight appearances, while the latter provided four assists and created six big chances over his 17 league fixtures – returns that saw the duo rank as Spurs’ fourth and third-best performers respectively this season.

As such, the prospect of the 52-year-old having a summer transfer window and full pre-season in order to mould his squad into one fit for his extremely high standards will undoubtedly be an incredibly exciting thought for everyone involved with the north London club.

Celtic boosted by Jota update

On-loan Celtic winger Jota is reportedly focused on kicking on at Parkhead, further suggesting that he will sign a permanent deal this summer.

The Lowdown: Jota superb for Hoops

The Hoops won the Scottish Premiership title earlier this month, following a memorable first season with Ange Postecoglou in charge.

Jota was undoubtedly a key player throughout the campaign, picking up 15 goal contributions (seven goals and eight assists) in the league and being hailed as ‘absolutely brilliant’ by Marvin Bartley.

The Portuguese starlet is only on loan from Benfica currently, however, and the hope is that he stays for good this summer.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/key-latest-celtic-updates-7/” title=”Key latest Celtic updates!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The Latest: Jota open to signing

According to A Bola [via Sport Witness], Jota has gone on holiday ‘with the conviction’ that he will ‘continue to shine’ at Parkhead moving forward.

He is thought to have a ‘very happy relationship’ with Celtic in general, with the report even describing it as a ‘marriage’ which he will say ‘yes’ to.

Contract terms are already being negotiated, claims the report, with Celtic informing Benfica they will trigger the buy option.

The Verdict: A no-brainer for Celtic

This is a hugely positive update from a Celtic perspective, with Jota such a talented attacking player who could potentially be a future icon at the club.

At 23, he has so many years ahead of him and he has shown in his short time with the Hoops what a devastating wide player he can be in the Scottish Premiership.

Jota will surely be licking his lips at the prospect of playing in the Champions League next season, too, which is surely another big reason why he looks ready to sign permanently.

Tottenham: Mail makes Richarlison claim

Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs interested in signing Everton forward Richarlison, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The lowdown: Survival hero

The Brazil international ended the 2021/22 season on a high as his goals against Crystal Palace and Chelsea helped the Merseyside club secure their Premier League status.

An Olympic Goal medalist with Brazil, Richarlison has enjoyed a steady upwards career trajectory since arriving at Watford before making a £50million switch to Everton (BBC).

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-latest-developments-2/” title=”Tottenham latest developments!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Having taken his tally to 53 goals in 153 outings for his current employers, another move could now be in the offing as the Lilywhites watch on…

The latest: Spurs interested

As per the Daily Mail, Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are all keen on the 34-cap Brazil ace.

It’s claimed that Richarlison has an ‘uncertain future’ at Everton and the club are ‘bracing themselves’ for bids in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The report also states that Spurs are among the suitors ‘monitoring developments closely’ as Antonio Conte looks to the man recently hailed as possessing ‘huge talent’ by Frank Lampard to bolster the striking department at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The verdict: Make it happen

After the news this week that Conte and transfer chief Fabio Paratici would be handed a £150milion boost to the transfer war chest from ENIC this summer after qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, the calibre of targets can naturally go up a level.

Therefore, spending big on Richarlison – who holds a market value of £45million and a contract until 2024 (Transfermarkt) – should be no issue for Spurs.

During 2021/22, the hardworking Brazilian scored 11 times and provided five assists in 33 appearances across all competitions, winning an impressive 7.1 duels and taking 2.4 shots per game and earning a 7.02 average Sofascore rating in the process.

Richarlison has previously admitted a desire to compete amongst the elite of Europe and a switch to north London to support Harry Kane and Son Heung-min makes an abundance of sense for all parties.

Leeds: Further Rasmus Kristensen details emerge

Rasmus Kristensen looks set to sign a five-year deal with Leeds United, according to Jeunes Footeux.

The Lowdown: Kristensen talks

It looks as if the 24-year-old, who has been described as a ‘goal threat’ by RB Salzburg boss Matthias Jaissle, will become the Premier League club’s second summer signing after Brenden Aaronson.

The Whites finally managed to get a deal over the line for the American from Salzburg after having two bids turned down in January, and they look set to raid the Austrian giants once again for the right-back.

The Denmark international is due to undergo medical tests after international duty, and details of his proposed move to Yorkshire have now been shared.

The Latest: Five-year deal

Jeunes Footeux provided an update on Leeds’ move for Kristensen on Friday morning.

They claimed that the full-back will sign a five-year deal at Elland Road and will cost the Whites a total of €25m (£21.4m).

Reports have previously stated that a fee to Salzburg will come in at around £10m, so the other £11.4m seems to be his wage across the five years, which would work out at around just under £44,000 per week.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/latest-leeds-united-updates-4/” title=”Latest Leeds United updates!” poster=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/cropped-2022-03-10T184055Z_1834933207_UP1EI3A1FW561_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-ENGLAND-LEE-AVA-REPORT-1-scaled-1.jpg” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The Verdict: Perfect

Victor Orta hasn’t wasted any time in making moves for manager Jesse Marsch, which is a welcome sign given the club’s struggles for signings under Marcelo Bielsa in recent years.

Kristensen’s presence is needed in Yorkshire, especially with Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas sidelined through long-term injuries.

The Dane knows what it is like to work under Marsch after winning back-to-back league and cup doubles under the current Whites head coach at Salzburg; and with 18 goal involvements in 44 games last season for Kristensen, Leeds look like they’re about to get themselves an exciting defender.

Liverpool agree personal terms for Nunez

Liverpool have been heavily linked with securing a deal for Darwin Nunez, and now a new update has been revealed on the next steps in the club’s pursuit of the player.

What’s the latest?

According to Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari, Liverpool have now agreed on personal terms with Nunez.

[snack-amp-story url=”https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-liverpool-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-salah-gnabry-isak-romano” title= “Read the latest Liverpool news!”]

Taking to his Twitter account the journalist claimed:

“Liverpool close to reach an agreement with Benfica for striker Darwin Nunez. Agreement on personal terms.”

Longari then further followed up with another tweet stating: “Confirmed by some other reliable sources: Darwin Nunez has a total agreement with Liverpool on personal terms (2027). First offer from LFC to Benfica to find a total agreement.

“Darwin Nunez never been so close to Liverpool.”

Klopp will be delighted

With the unexpected news that Sadio Mane wants to Liverpool this summer, Jurgen Klopp will surely be delighted that FSG are making the right moves to replace the Senegalese winger’s massive goal contributions ahead of next season with Nunez proving to be more than capable of bagging crucial goals.

The Uruguayan striker scored 34 goals and contributed four assists in all competitions from his striker role for Portuguese giants Benfica this season, but it is the importance of some of his strikes specifically that make him a game-changer like his potential predecessor Mane.

In the Champions League, Nunez was the catalyst in his team’s progression through the prestigious European competition that landed Benfica their first quarter-final since 2016.

The 22-year-old scored big goals in big games against some of the most elite clubs in the tournament with two goals against Barcelona, a goal versus both Bayern Munich and Ajax, and two strikes over the quarter-final tie with Liverpool.

That said, despite his hard work was unable to knock out the Merseyside club and crashed out of the competition at Anfield.

Klopp spoke out on his admiration for the young goal machine in a Champions League press conference, saying (via Metro):

“Really good, really good. I knew it before but he played pretty much in front of me. Physically strong, quick, was calm with his finish. Really good. If he stays healthy, it’s a big career ahead of him.”

Following the comments from the German coach, Nunez probably would never have imagined he would become a target and potential player for the six-time Champions League winners and now he could sign a record-breaking deal reported to be worth €100m (£85.5m) making him the most expensive signing ever for the Reds.

AND in other news: Liverpool trying to sign £102m-rated “game-changer” as well as Nunez, he’s Mane 2.0

Celtic ‘in talks’ with Siegrist over move

Celtic are in talks with Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist over a summer move to Parkhead, according to reliable journalist Anthony Joseph.

The Lowdown: Hoops linked with move

The Hoops are likely to be in the market for a new ‘keeper in the summer transfer window, following the departure of Vasilias Barkas on loan to FC Utrecht.

One player they have been linked with in the past is Siegrist, who enjoyed an impressive 2021/22 season for Dundee United, making 29 appearances in the Scottish Premiership.

The 30-year-old is out of contract this summer and will be available on a free transfer.

The Latest: Joseph makes positive claim

Taking to Twitter, Joseph simply provided a four-word update regarding Celtic’s pursuit of the Swiss stopper:

“Benjamin Siegrist in talks.”

The Verdict: Great competition for Hart

Joe Hart is expected to go into next season as Celtic’s first-choice ‘keeper, given his excellent displays last season, in which the 35-year-old rolled back the years and made 44 appearances.

Siegrist could arguably provide the veteran with his sternest competition yet between the sticks, however, as Ange Postecoglou looks to build a more formidable all-round squad.

If Hart shows signs of age next term, the Dundee United man could be a strong replacement, as the matches come thick and fast, both domestically and in Europe. Siegrist has been hailed as a ‘big-game performer’ by manager Tam Courts, which bodes well for the Hoops.

In other news, Kieran Devlin has dropped a Celtic transfer claim. Read more here.
