The Verdict: Blow for Bielsa
In many ways, Cornet would have been an ideal addition to Leeds’ squad – he has 22 caps to his name for the Ivory Coast, outlining his pedigree – so it is a blow to potentially see him join another Premier League club.
He could have provided competition for Raphinha and Harrison out wide, allowing Bielsa to keep his wingers fresh throughout the campaign and avoid any risk of burnout towards the end of the year.
Attention should now turn to signing another player in the same mould between now and deadline day, while perhaps a central midfielder will also be on the agenda, with concerns over the amount of football Kalvin Phillips will play in 2021.

Australia’s coach Tim Nielsen has told Darwin cricket fans they risk losing their already infrequent international cricket fixtures if they do not turn out in greater numbers. The first two ODIs between Australia and Bangladesh attracted about 4000 fans each and while the figures have pleased Northern Territory Cricket, Nielsen believes it will be hard to justify continually playing in front of such small crowds.”I’d probably like to see a few more people here to support the games and really come out and show that, even if they aren’t necessarily cricket people, they’re willing to support international sport [in Darwin],” Nielsen said. “If that can’t happen it’s going to be more and more difficult I think for Cricket Australia and international teams to keep coming here.”Darwin fans have one more chance to see Australia take on Bangladesh, on Saturday. The three games have been the first full international matches held in Darwin since 2004, which was the second year that Cricket Australia experimented with the Top End tours.The crowds have not been helped by the fact that the games are being televised live into Darwin. Andrew Ramsay, the chief executive of Northern Territory Cricket, felt 4000 per match was a good result despite the Marrara ground having held up to 17,500 spectators for Australian rules football games.”We have a population of only 100,000 here in Darwin,” Ramsay said, “and you can only squeeze the orange so much.” Ramsay is hopeful that Darwin can host its third Test in 2010, when Bangladesh are scheduled to return.The Northern Territory climate allows Australia to squeeze in out-of-season home fixtures against sides that would struggle to draw big crowds in the major Australian centres in summer. The ICC’s future tours programme requires regular home-and-away clashes between all the full member nations and Nielsen said if games in northern Australia remained viable, the players would be happy to play there.”Darwin is a good location for us at this time of year,” Nielsen said. “It’s obviously cold and wet down south. It’s nice for our blokes to get some sun on their backs and run around and be playing international cricket at this time of the year. Normally we’re overseas, so it’s nice to be doing that in Australia.”

A Arena Corinthians possui 89 camarotes e menos da metade está alugada em contratos anuais e em uso pelas empresas parceiras. O restante foi comercializado pontualmente, com 12 a 15 ingressos por valores a partir de R$ 8.500 somente para o jogo contra a Ponte Preta. Por um valor adicional, as empresas que alugavam os camarotes também puderam adquirir um pacote de mídia que vendeu mais de dez unidades – as marcas ficaram expostas no estádio para os mais de 46 mil torcedores, em telões, painéis de LED e televisões em camarotes e nos banheiros. A venda já havia ocorrido nas semifinais do Paulistão, por valores inferiores, mas houve excedentes.
Os chamados “camarotes-festa” da Arena também foram ativados na decisão do Paulistão. São quatro, que receberam mais de 600 pessoas. Além disso, o Business Lounge do estádio, que é uma espécie de centro de convenções, também comercializou todos os espaços por valores a partir de R$ 450 por assento. O engajamento dos setores ociosos também ocorreu pelo programa Fiel Torcedor, que venceu cadeiras do sexto andar a partir de R$ 320.
A ideia do Corinthians é estudar a viabilidade da venda de ingressos avulsos nestas áreas corporativas, mas as empresas proprietárias de contratos anuais têm divergências em relação aos valores. Dean Windass has exclusively told Football FanCast that he cannot believe Arsenal let Joe Willock leave.
Since breaking into the Arsenal first-team more than three years ago, the midfielder unable to establish himself as a regular under Unai Emery or current manager Mikel Arteta.
The bulk of his 78 appearances came in the Europa League and the domestic cups, with the Gunners academy graduate failing to get a proper opportunity in the Premier League.
However, last January Willock moved out on loan to Newcastle and was given his first genuine chance to prove himself at Premier League level.
And Willock more than exceeded expectations, scoring an incredible eight goals in under 1000 minutes of league football for Steve Bruce’s side – becoming the youngest player to score in seven consecutive Premier League games in the process.
In contrast, none of Arsenal’s central midfielders managed to score more than once in the league last season, but that didn’t stop them from cashing in on Willock when Newcastle came calling once again for a permanent deal this summer.
Windass exclusively told Football FanCast:
“I just don’t get it; he’s done so well for Bruce. There’s not many teams that have midfield players that can get you goals – and Arsenal need as much help as they can get at the minute.”

India’s selectors have picked Sourav Ganguly in a 15-man squad for the first two Tests against Australia. He is expected to join India A in Chennai for a Test against New Zealand A beginning on October 3 because he isn’t part of the ongoing camp in Bangalore. There were also call-ups for Tamil Nadu batsman S Badrinath and Haryana legspinner Amit Mishra, who played three one-day internationals in 2003.The squad consists of seven batsmen, one wicketkeeper, four fast bowlers and three spinners. The six batting slots are filled by Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Ganguly and VVS Laxman, with Mahendra Singh Dhoni as wicketkeeper. ويسعى اتحاد الكرة لتعيين مدير فني أجنبي لقيادة منتخب مصر الأولمبي، وذلك بعد إقالة شوقي غريب في وقت سابق بسبب عدم وجود ارتباطات للفريق.
وعلم “بطولات”، أن اتحاد الكرة أغلق حاليًا ملف المدير الفني للمنتخب الأولمبي؛ لحين حسم المدير الفني لمنتخب مصر الأول.
ويحاول الثنائي حازم إمام وبركات التركيز أكثر على حسم المدير الفني للمنتخب الأول ودخل باولو سوزا دائرة المرشحين بقوة لقيادة الفراعنة.

وجاء قرار مسؤولي اتحاد الكرة بسبب تعثر المفاوضات مع أكثر من مدير فني مرشح لتدريب المنتخب الأول، وهو ما جعل حازم إمام ومحمد بركات عضوي المجلس، يغلقان ملف مدرب المنتخب الأولمبي.
وكان اتحاد الكرة قد قرر توجيه الشكر لـ إيهاب جلال المدير الفني للمنتخب الأول، بعد الخسارة في مباراتي إثيوبيا بتصفيات الأمم الإفريقية، والهزيمة من كوريا الجنوبية وديًا.

Anil Kumble, India’s Test captain, has said the batsmen must step up if India are to regain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy next month. India go into the four-Test series against Australia on the back of two poor series – against South Africa and Sri Lanka – but Kumble is confident that each of his players will lift his game for the high-profile contests.”Whenever we’ve won at home it’s the batsmen who have scored huge runs and that’s the key,” Kumble said on the eve of the Irani Trophy game between Delhi and Rest of India in Vadodara.India’s top six batsmen scored only three centuries among them in six Tests against South Africa and Sri Lanka. However Kumble said the series in Sri Lanka, which India lost 2-1, was a “one-off”.Australia won 2-1 when they last toured India in 2004-05 but only four members from their current squad have played Tests in the country before. “In the past every player has stepped up his game whenever we’ve played Australia,” Kumble said. “We came close to winning in Australia and even in 2004 we lost out in Chennai on the last day due to rain.”We have a great opportunity. They certainly lack experience in playing in India. Having said that, they are highly competitive team and are still No. 1. But we look at it as an opportunity to win the series. With the experience and skills that we have, we look to back that up with good performances to get the results.”Kumble hoped that Sachin Tendulkar, who averages 56 against Australia, would be fit for the series. “He is definitely a big player and he has done exceptionally well against Australia.”
