Como era de se imaginar, o centro das atenções da coletiva do técnico Levir Culpi nesta terça-feira foi a saída de Diego Souza. O técnico comentou que achava o jogador um pouco desmotivado, lembrou que nunca havia trabalhado com o camisa 10 e destacou a atitude do atleta em pedir para ser negociado ao invés de continuar trabalhando infeliz nas Laranjeiras:

-Eu senti ele desmotivado, mas não sabia o que era. Também não tive a oportunidade de conversar. Mas percebi. Eu nunca havia trabalhado com ele. Foi uma decisão pessoal, mas eu achei ótima. Como se deve ser. Quando você não quer trabalhar em um lugar, é muito melhor falar e conversar.

– Achei legal, ele agiu de forma correta e profissional. É muito ruim quando um jogador não está feliz no lugar e permanece – completou o técnico.

Depois, o técnico comentou sobre as expectativas para o confronto decisivo desta quarta-feira, contra o Internacional, pela Primeira Liga. Ele admitiu que não espera ver o melhor da sua equipe – por conta do pouco tempo de trabalho – mas valorizou o lado técnico dos seus atletas como um diferencial:

-Espero altos e baixos. Claro que espero bons momentos, porque a qualidade técnica do elenco é muito boa. Mas a qualidade do conjunto ainda não é. Nós podemos ir bem pela qualidade do jogadores, e não pela força do conjunto. Não é só o Fluminense que sofre disso, mas todos – finalizou o técnico.

David Moyes can land his next Marko Arnautovic by launching a bid to bring Besiktas striker Cyle Larin to West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

What’s the word?

According to Sabah, the Hammers are preparing to revisit Vodafone Park at the end of the season after seeing an offer for Larin turned down during the recent winter market.

It is thought that the Irons presented a €10m (£8.5m) bid for the 25-year-old amid their search for Sebastien Haller’s replacement, but were denied as Larin wished to remain with the Black Eagles until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

Larin will look to secure a move away from the Super Lig once the season draws to a close, with Sergen Yalcin’s side currently second in the standings on goal difference to leaders and Istanbul-based rivals Galatasaray.

Besiktas are not planning on standing in Larin’s way by demanding a vast sum for their Canada international, who has 13 goals and three assists in 25 top-flight outings this term, with club President Ahmet Nur Cebi expected to request just €15m (£13m) to strike a deal.

But West Ham may not be alone this summer in pursuing the 31-cap forward, regarded as one of the Black Eagles’ greatest weapons, as West Bromwich Albion are also noted to have submitted an important offer during the winter market.

Should West Ham sign Larin?

West Ham will have to hit the market in the summer striving to sign a new striker to fill the void left by Haller joining AFC Ajax, and landing Larin could see the London Stadium natives hand Moyes a versatile and lethal weapon.

The Ontario-born attacker has found the back of the net across the Besiktas front line this season, with five goals and two assists from 15 outings on the left-wing, six goals and one assist in five games from the right-flank and two goals in five games when played centrally.

His ability to offer the final touch from any forward role, along with his stature at 6 ft 2, could see Larin prove to be Moyes’ next Arnautovic, after the Scottish coach hinted in December that he would like to find another option of the Austrian’s calibre.

Moyes also managed to get the best out of Arnautovic once he moved the forward into a central role at West Ham, and given the backing to cause opponents issues at a time when supporters were not clamouring over their former club-record £20m signing.

“He was always someone who you knew had the ability to go past you. But it was always not that often and it was maybe when he wanted to at different times. But I think when he became more of a central striker, he flourished in it,” Moyes said on BBC 5 Live Sport back in January 2019.

“There was a period, when I took over, the supporters at West Ham weren’t having Marko at all. He was a big signing, spent big money on him. He’s got that in him. He’s been at big clubs himself, Marko. But it was simply to say: ‘Nobody’s liking you at the moment, why don’t you run about, Marko? And people will maybe change their mind.’

“He’s got real power and pace, he can receive the ball, he can beat people. He could easily play for Chelsea because of the way he can take the ball and his link-up. He actually fancies himself as a player, he thinks he’s a big-time player.”

Larin could offer West Ham a similar attacking threat to 6 ft 2 Arnautovic if signed and at just £13m, he could prove to be a bargain.

Crystal Palace’s on-loan forward Michy Batshuayi has certainly not had the best of times since joining Chelsea from Marseille.

The Belgian has been farmed out on four separate loan deals away from Stamford Bridge, making a total of just 77 appearances for the Londoners since his arrival nearly five years ago.

Now, he has been encouraged to depart the club permanently by former Belgium hero and compatriot Erwin Vandenbergh.

However, having twice signed the 27-year-old on temporary deals twice in the past, Steve Parish and the Eagles should avoid making a permanent move.

It is fair to say that Batshuayi’s second loan spell at Selhurst Park has not gone as positively as the first. Having scored six goals in 13 appearances during the second-half of 2018/19, he has scored just once in 18 showings this time around.

This run of poor form is not entirely surprising considering that he has not managed to score double figures in a single season since the 2017/18 campaign, the second-half of which he spent with German giants Borussia Dortmund.

Batshuayi’s confidence in front of goal appears to have totally evaporated due to that barren run of form. He is now only averaging 0.7 shots per game in the Premier League this season according to WhoScored, a hugely disappointing record for a striker.

At the age of 27, Batshuayi is certainly not a young forward and he should be in his peak but this new low appears to have plunged his future in the Premier League into doubt.

Rated at £10.8m and out of contract at Stamford Bridge next summer, a move for the Belgian may not actually be too costly in the near future.

However, with a recent record as poor as his, Palace’s funds really should not be spent on securing a permanent deal for Batshuayi.

Mas essa fama é antiga. Pelo Corinthians, entre 2012 e 2015, o camisa 9 recebeu 25 cartões, sendo dois vermelhos. A média era, basicamente, de um cartão amarelo a cada cinco jogos disputados. Nesta temporada, Guerrero recebeu cinco cartões amarelos em 14 jogos, todos pelo Estadual. Não está pendurado pelo fato de eles terem zerado após a primeira fase. Portanto, jogará mais tranquilo o clássico contra o Botafogo, amanhã. Companheiro do peruano, Alan Patrick minimizou o fato.

– São dois jogadores experientes. Faz parte do clássico ter provocação. É normal, todo mundo quer ganhar. Às vezes o adversário faz algo para tentar desequilibrar o nosso jogador emocionalmente, fazer com que desconcentre do jogo, e é exemplo desse tipo de lance com o Guerrero. Ele é experiente, tem esses lances de provocação, teve oportunidades, por pouco o gol não saiu, mas fez grande jogo, ajudou e fez um sacrifício grande de voltar da seleção. Many Arsenal fans have been left to slam the display of Nicolas Pepe in their 1-0 home loss to Olympiacos in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening.

Youssef El Arabi, who scored in the first leg, got the only goal of the game at the Emirates Stadium with a deflected effort off of Gabriel that flew past Bernd Leno, but Mikel Arteta’s team still went through into the quarter-final stage of the competition with an overall 3-2 aggregate win.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was guilty of missing a handful of glorious opportunities to score, but it was the performance of Pepe that flattered to deceive several supporters of the North London club.

The former Lille man lost out on 10 of his duels, the most out of any of his teammates, and also failed to make a single key pass or cross in the game (Sofascore).

He also lost possession of the ball no fewer than on 16 different occasions in the match, the joint-second most out of any Gunners player, as he earned a pretty poor 5.8 overall rating on Sofascore, only worsened by Aubameyang.

O Botafogo está interessado na contratação do atacante Rildo, que pode deixar o Corinthians nos próximos dias. Sem espaço no clube paulista e com a diretoria do Timão aceitando liberar o atacante, o Botafogo negociaria diretamente com a Ponte Preta, detentora dos direitos federativos do jogador de 27 anos. Rildo disputou somente dois jogos no Brasileirão e, assim, está livre para acertar com outros clubes da Série A.

Sem espaço no Corinthians, é de interesse tanto do jogador quanto do empresário dele, José Galante, que Rildo tenha mais oportunidades. Apesar de a diretoria botafoguense e o representante do atleta negarem o acerto, elas estudam um acordo e há uma dívida de gratidão do atleta com o gerente de futebol do Glorioso, Antônio Lopes, que foi o técnico do Vitória no período em que Rildo foi revelado pelo clube baiano, em 2011.

O contrato de empréstimo de Rildo com o Corinthians vai até o fim deste ano e o Timão teria que desembolsar US$ 1,5 milhão (R$ 4,8 milhões) para continuar com o atleta na próxima temporada. Como a possibilidade já está descartada, a direção não criaria entraves para a transferência do atacante, apesar de o técnico Cristovão Borges dizer contar com Rildo para a sequência do ano:

-Assim como outros jogadores, e na verdade o que quero é contar com todos. Ele não participou de jogos suficientes para não poder trocar de equipe, mas meu desejo é permanecer com todos eles. Às vezes por contrato, o clube não consegue segurar alguns jogadores – avalia o técnico do Corinthians.

Oprazo de inscrições no campeonato termina no dia 16 de setembro. Por isso mesmo, há pressa na equipe carioca pelo negócio, e do representante de Rildo para que o jogador seja melhor aproveitado neste returno de Brasileiro.

Rildo chegou a ter seu nome especulado no São Paulo nos últimos dias. Mas a negociação não avançou. Ele já havia sido objeto de desejo do técnico Ricardo Gomes no Glorioso. Atualmente, o comandante está treinando o São Paulo.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer questioned whether Chelsea attacker Christian Pulisic would be a good fit at Liverpool.

According to the MailOnline, Liverpool are keeping an eye on Pulisic, as he continues to be overlooked by Thomas Tuchel. The 22-year-old has started just one league game under the new Blues boss, the recent 0-0 draw with Leeds United, throwing his future into doubt.

Liverpool, as well as Manchester United and Bayern Munich, look to be potential suitors, but Palmer has his doubts regarding the Reds.

When asked whether £45m-rated Pulisic would be a good signing for Jurgen Klopp, who previously worked with the youngster at Borussia Dortmund, the retired England international told FFC:

“I’m not sure, I’m not sure. He hasn’t really hit the heights at Chelsea, has he? And that’s not to say he couldn’t hit the heights at Liverpool, another manager, you know, who knows him well, might be able to get the best out of him.

“But the way Liverpool play, [Sadio] Mane, [Mohamed] Salah, the way that the forwards interchange, I’m not sure he fits into that system.”

After a strong end to last season where he was able to score goals against Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal, the 2020/21 campaign has been difficult for Pulisic. The USA international has scored just once in the Premier League so far and has struggled with injury.

He now faces a tough task winning a place in Tuchel’s starting XI, with the ex-Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund manager spoilt for choice in the attacking positions. As things stand, Tuchel can call upon Mason Mount, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech — extremely tough competition for the American.
