خضع مهاجم يوفنتوس باولو ديبالا لفحص طبي من قبل الطاقم الطبي في كونتاسا، بعد إصابته في مباراة منتخب بلاده الأرجنتين أمام أوروجواي. 

تم استبدال اللاعب الأرجنتيني الدولي بين الشوطين في الفوز 1-0 على أوروجواي في تصفيات كأس العالم وعاد إلى تورينو لتقييم حجم المشكلة التي يعاني منها.

ذهب ديبالا للخضوع لاختبارات وفحص حالته، بعد غيابه عن مباراة البرازيل في أمريكا الجنوبية، حيث يعاني من انزعاج في ربلة الساق.

ولا يزال الأرجنتيني في شك بشأن المباراة ضد لاتسيو في الأولمبيكو يوم السبت، ويقال إنه سيراقب عن كثب من قبل الطاقم الطبي ليوفنتوس، بحسب موقع “فوتبول إيطاليا”.

وبعد الاختبار، أبدى ديبالا البالغ من العمر 28 عامًا تفاؤلاً عندما اقترب من الجماهير خارج المركز، وأجاب عندما سُئل عن حالته: “أنا بخير، شكرًا”.

بلغ ديبالا من العمر 28 عامًا في 15 نوفمبر ويبدو أنه مستعد للتجديد مع يوفنتوس، حيث يجب أن يجلس وكيله لإكمال المفاوضات هذا الشهر.

According to Sport Bild (via Sport Witness), Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg have said that prolific striker Wout Weghorst will be allowed to leave the club if they receive a suitable offer in the region of €35m-40m (£31.5m-£36m).

The 28-year-old admitted that Spurs were “serious” about signing him just a few months ago, he told Kicker:

“I can be honest; of course, I knew that there was interest left and right. It was serious with Tottenham; I was a candidate. Of course, you are interested in something like that too. It is also a confirmation that I’m on the right track.”

It’s claimed that Weghorst would love a dream move to the Premier League, so now a genuine price has been mentioned, might we see the north Londoners revisit the Dutch colossus?

Shades of Ibra

Spurs eventually signed Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica as their back-up to Harry Kane, and whilst there’s a £41m option-to-buy included the deal, there has been little to suggest why or if Jose Mourinho will make that a permanent switch.

Forget about the Brazilian for now, Weghorst would offer a totally different option in attack – a true ‘plan B’ – rather than having a like-for-like sitting on the bench.

At 6 foot 6, the Wolfsburg striker is an absolute battering-ram, who also has an impressive eye for goal having bagged 11 goals in 15 appearances across the German top-flight and the Europa League, as per Transfermarkt.

It’s no wonder he has drawn comparisons to former PL marksman Edin Dzeko and indeed, he fits the profile of one of Mourinho’s former favourites, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Weghorst has even been likened to Jamie Vardy by  The Athletic’s Bundesliga expert Raphael Honigstein, in terms of his relentless work rate in leading the line on his own.

That much is merely emphasised by his former head coach, Bruno Labbadia, who said: “[Wout] runs a lot, he’s tireless.”

The Dutch late-bloomer appears to be right up Mourinho’s street, perhaps more so than Vinicius – a rangy, direct and different threat to the norm.

He could certainly be unleashed as a secret second-half weapon in the title run-in.

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, Carlton Palmer has delivered his verdict on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future at Manchester United amid links to Mauricio Pochettino.

It’s safe to say that the Red Devils have endured a difficult start to the season after they were dumped out of the Champions League by RB Leipzig.

However, United have begun to turn their poor run of form around, as they shared the spoils with bitter rivals Manchester City before edging past Premier League strugglers Sheffield United at Bramall Lane last time out.

But Solskjaer has come under immense scrutiny in recent weeks, and Ed Woodward has failed to dampen the speculation, although recent reports emerged in the media that the board will continue to back the under-fire boss.

Yet this has done very little to halt the rumours and questions over his future at Old Trafford, with Pochettino waiting in the wings.

When asked if he thought United would target the former Tottenahm Hotspur manager, Palmer told Football FanCast’s Tom Ward:

“Well, the way they’re talking is that Solskjaer is safe until the summer. Don’t get me wrong, even with Ole being there, they’ll still be there or thereabouts finishing in the top four, because they’ve got talented individuals.

“But that’s not good enough for Manchester United. They should be challenging for the league and they’re going to be a long way off from that.

“Finishing in the top four doesn’t mean anything now. I mean, if you finish behind Liverpool, you’re going to be 20 points behind in second or third place.”

United play host to newly-promoted Leeds United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon as they look to resume their Pennines derby rivalry before they face Everton and Leicester City in quick succession in what could be a defining moment for Solskjaer’s managerial career.

He will be well aware that his side cannot afford to slip up, that’s for sure.

Now they welcome a faltering Arsenal side to the Hawthorns tonight. It’s almost a six-pointer for the Gunners as a victory would pull them back closer to the top seven, whilst a defeat would certainly condemn them to a likely battle at the wrong end of the table.

And the 66-year-old ‘firefighter’ can do himself a world of good with some alterations to his starting XI. Evidently, things are not working out.

Albion have leaked eight goals and scored just once in those three matches. Not much can be done defensively with the likes of Kyle Bartley, Conor Townsend and Kieran Gibbs on the treatment table, so perhaps it would be wise to make a change in attack.

One goal in 12 starts.

No that isn’t Charlie Austin or Kenneth Zohore, it’s the Baggies’ big-money summer signing Karlan Grant.

After a £12m move from Huddersfield before the domestic deadline, the 23-year-old has simply failed to provide the goals required to lead the line.

Indeed, Grant is only averaging 1.3 shots per game, which is marginally worse than midfield duo Conor Gallagher and Matheus Pereira, per WhoScored.

That’s not encouraging for a striker playing up top on his own, even more so considering the praise he arrived with.

At the Terriers, his boss, Danny Cowley, called him “ruthless in front of goal” whilst Lee Bowyer, who was linked to the Baggies job at one stage, once claimed that Grant “causes problems and scores goals.”

We’re yet to see either nor have we even seen a glimpse of that, so it’s time for Allardyce to show no mercy. After all, he didn’t bring him in. It was Slaven Bilic and Luke Dowling.

With Hal Robson-Kanu also still on the sidelines, there can be no harm in giving Austin a proper run-out. His record at this level is far better having contributed to 44 goals in 110 appearances, via Transfermarkt.

A six-year deal on £20k-per-week isn’t looking like the smartest piece of business from Albion, but if they do go down, then they may be well-equipped to mount an instant comeback charge.

But for now, Grant must be axed until he finds those goalscoring boots from the bench. He’s not fit to start in the Premier League.
