Prior to the suspension of football in the United Kingdom back in March, things were actually going rather well for Leeds United.

After the agony of missing out on promotion last time out, the Yorkshire side had once again put themselves in the position to challenge for an automatic promotion place with just nine matches to play.

However, Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been asked to wait a little longer before they can look to secure their return to the Premier League after a 16-year absence.

With a seven-point gap to third-placed Fulham and a favourable run-in including fixtures against Luton Town, Charlton Athletic and Barnsley, Leeds remain one of the favourites for promotion, but the effects of football behind closed doors and the time away from the pitch is not yet fully understood.

Here, we look into six statistics from Leeds’ season so far in an attempt to refresh our memories ahead of the return of Championship football…

Possession based Bielsa

Marcelo Bielsa is renowned for favouring a high-intensity possession-based style of play and that has certainly been the case so far this season at Leeds.

The Elland Road side have averaged 60.1% from their 37 games so far this season, which is better than any other side in the division.

Third-place Fulham are second on this list, with 58.8%.

Football on the floor

With an average of just 16.9 per match, no Championship side has won fewer aerial duels than Leeds this season.

As is perhaps illustrated by their impressive possession numbers, Leeds prefer to play the ball on the floor, while replacing Pontus Jansson with the smaller but technical Ben White could also have played a part.

Jansson wins on average 3.4 aerial duels per match, compared with White’s 2.8.

Deadly on the counter

With plenty of speed in the shape of Helder Costa, Jack Harrison and Pablo Hernandez, Leeds have been very effective on the counter this season.

Alongside Hull City, their total of six counter-attack goals is the best in the league and has shown that they do not solely rely on a possession-based style to break down their opposition.

They are much less threatening from set-pieces though, with the second-fewest set-piece goals in the league.

Own goals

Leeds have benefited from a staggering six own goals this season, two more than any other side.

While Patrick Bamford has been criticised for his lack of incisiveness in front of goal, it is clear that they have been putting the ball in dangerous areas, as shown by the fact that they have scored the fourth-most goals in the league this season.

Old flame burns strong

At 35 years old, Pablo Hernandez is likely coming towards the end of a long and storied career.

However, it appears Bielsa has got the best out of him with the Spaniard managing six goals and six assists from his 25 starts so far this year.

While the likes of Jack Harrison and Helder Costa have offered him competition, his 2.3 key passes-per-match and 56.6 passes-per-match see him leading all Leeds other attackers.

Bamford’s importance

A player that divides opinion among Leeds fans, Bamford remains Leeds’ primary goal threat.

With 13 league goals so far, his seven strikes clear of Hernandez and own goals who are tied for second place.

The loans of Eddie Nketiah and Jean-Kevin Augustin have not worked out, and it is likely that Bamford will have to continue in his lone centre-forward role.

O Flamengo, líder do Campeonato Brasileiro e a uma vitória do título, cumpre a expectativa de disputar o topo, assim como o Palmeiras: o Rubro-Negro tem elenco avaliado em € 195,9 milhões, enquanto o do Verdão vale € 212,15 milhões. Primeiro e segundo colocados, apenas uma posição invertidos.

Decepções

Atual campeão do Brasileiro, o Botafogo tem o terceiro elenco mais caro: € 138,35 milhões. A classificação à próxima Libertadores e a disputa por uma vaga direta são, portanto, o mínimo que poderia ser esperado do Glorioso.

Outro que pode ser considerado uma decepção é o Corinthians. Atualmente na 11ª posição na tabela, o Timão tem o quinto elenco com maior valor de mercado na competição: € 110,45 milhões.

A expectativa que o presidente do Vasco, Pedrinho, e parte da torcida havia criado por uma boa campanha se justificava: o elenco é o sexto de maior avaliação. A realidade que se impõe a essa altura, contudo, é de 42 pontos e luta contra o rebaixamento.

ووفقاً للصفحة الرسمية للنادي المصري، علي “فيس بوك”: “المصري أتم التعاقد مع إسلام جمال قادماً من طلائع الجيش”.

وأتم مجلس إدارة النادي المصري، إجراءات التعاقد مع اسلام جمال بعقد يمتد لثلاثة مواسم اعتبارًا من الموسم الجديد 2022/2021 وحتى نهاية موسم 2024/2023.

حيث قام اللاعب بالتوقيع على تعاقده مع القلعة الخضراء في حضور لجنة التعاقدات ممثلة في الأستاذ محمد الخولي نائب رئيس النادي والمهندس عدنان حلبية والأستاذ أحمد الشملة عضوا المجلس.

الجدير بالذكر أن إسلام جمال والبالغ من العمر 32 عامًا كان قد سبق له تمثيل منتخب مصر دوليًا ، علمًا بأنه كان قد سبق له اللعب في أندية طلائع الجيش قبل أن ينتقل لصفوف الزمالك مطلع موسم 2015/2014 حيث نجح معه في الحصول على لقبي الدوري والكأس ، قبل الانتقال لصفوف أندية الاسماعيلي والاتحاد السكندري قبل أن يحط الرحال الموسم الماضي في صفوف ممثل المؤسسة العسكرية طلائع الجيش.

وأنهى المصري الدوري في الموسم المنقضي محتلًا المركز الخامس برصيد 50 نقطة.

A recent squad update from Sky Sports’ Alan Myers has got loads of Everton fans talking this week.

The former Toffees media man took to Twitter to provide fresh news on the futures of outcasted trio Maarten Stekelenburg, Cuco Martina and Oumar Niasse.

He claims that the three players are yet to be offered a new contract at the club and “remain likely” to leave this summer.

It’s led to many supporters buzzing as they may finally see three relatively high-earners depart the club after barely featuring in recent seasons. Some made their points clear by calling for the club to get rid right now…

Other members of the Goodison Park faithful singled out each player and provided reasons to why they should be let go.

Stekelenburg, now 37, has been at the club for four years but has only managed to make a total of 26 appearances whilst Niasse has been forced out on loan twice and has played just 199 minutes all season.

Martina has also remained in Merseyside this campaign and hasn’t made a single senior appearance. His last match for Everton was in March 2018. He, too, has been out on loan to both Feyenoord and Stoke City.

According to Spotrac, the trio are raking in £120k-per-week between them, which is enough for one high-earning star at the club.

It’s also led to a number of fans suggesting that Carlo Ancelotti promote players from within, especially as they are unlikely to be able to flaunt much wealth in the transfer market this summer with the pandemic seriously affecting finances.

With their contracts set to expire later this month, it seems rather unlikely that any of the three will be a Toffees player past the summer.

– Os torcedores dos outros times podem até pensar que o Fluminense vence fácil, mas a minha esperança no Tombense é tão grande que pra mim não será surpresa se vencermos. Acho que dá Tombense: 1 a 0.

Mais que torcedor símbolo do Tombense, Luiz Henrique se orgulha de ter acompanhado o time em praticamente todos os jogos.

– Faz bastante tempo que acompanho o Tombense. Vou a todos os jogos. Somente não estive em um jogo, contra o Brasil de Pelotas, lá no Sul, pela Série C, em 2014 – afirmou Luiz Henrique, após conferir o último treinamento do time, antes do jogo contra o Fluminense.

Danny Ings was the man of the hour after netting a brace in Southampton’s 3-1 win over Watford on Sunday.

The former Liverpool man seems to have really found his calling on the south coast as he now boasts 18 goals in this Premier League season. Ings is just one goal behind leading scorer Jamie Vardy of Leicester as the race for the Golden Boot becomes even more heated (via BBC Sport).

From an Anfield tragedy to Southampton’s driving force, Ings has made arguably the most impressive transformation over the last couple of seasons. The 27-year-old missed a total of 85 Liverpool games after ongoing knee injuries impacted his time on the pitch (via Transfermarkt).

He made the switch to Southampton colours last summer for a fee of £20m and has made a colossal impact to a side who just managed to stay up last season. Not only is Ings only one goal behind Vardy, he is one ahead of former Anfield teammate Mohamed Salah, who has 17 league goals to his name this term.

The Foxes got their 2019/20 season off to a flying start but have gradually slipped away from the top of the table as Liverpool and Manchester City excelled. However, they could still clinch Champions League football if they can maintain third place and stay ahead of the likes of Chelsea, Wolves and Manchester United.

However, winning the Golden Boot will be a huge boost for both Vardy and Leicester and, if he wants to ensure that happens, he must not underestimate Ings. The Winchester-born striker may have come into this season as an underdog but he is a force to be reckoned with and certainly threatens any mainstream Golden Boot race.

أضاف حسام أشرف خلال مداخلة هاتفية عبر برنامج جمهور التالتة، المُذاع عبر قناة أون تايم سبورت 2: “أواخر 2019 عقدي كان ينتهي مع الزمالك كان من المفترض أن أجدد مع النادي وكان يحق لي أن أوقع لأي نادي في شهر يناير 2020”.

تابع: “أتى وكيل لاعبين بدون ذكر أسماء تحدث معي عن أندية في البرتغال وبلجيكا وصرت معه للنهاية كل لاعب يتمنى أن يحترف عن طريق النادي”.

وواصل: “الناس فاكرة أنني وقعت لنادي في الكاميرون هذه الفكرة خطأ تمامًا أنا متعلم فلن أذهب لكي أوقع لنادي في الكاميرون وهذا لن يكون أقصى طموحي، عقد الكاميرون وقعت عليه بسبب أنه هيكسب به حق رعاية للنادي، وسألته على هذا سيكون عليه ضرر على الزمالك؟ قال لي لا، بعد أن وقعت حصلت على العقود الأصلية وهو لم يحصل على أي عقد”.

استكمل: “الوكيل المصري وافق على أن العقود تكون معي ولكنه قال ليٌ هصورك وهوري العقود للوكيل الإيطالي لكي يضمن أن تكون معنا ووافقت”.

أردف: “بعدها بشهر أو اثنين جلب ليٌ عرض من نادي برتغالي درجة ثانية أو ثالثة على سبيل الإعارة، وهذا لم يكن اتفاقي معه، كان متفق معي على أندية قمة في البرتغال مثل بورتو، ورفضت العرض وفضلت التجديد لنادي الزمالك”.

أكمل: “قلت للوكيل لن أرحل إلا بعد موافقة الزمالك ولم أكن أريد أي ضرر يقع على الزمالك وكانت رغبتي الاحتراف من بوابة نادي الزمالك”.

اختتم: “بعد ذلك أكتشفت أنه تم رفع قضية عليٌ وعلى نادي الزمالك من خلال نسخ العقود كانت على الواتساب، ولم أكن أعلم أن النسخ على الواتساب يمكن أن تستخدم في تحريك قضية ويتم اللجوء للمحكمة الدولية رغم أن العقود كلها كانت معي”.

Calvin Bassey has said that James Maddison helped convince him to move from Leicester City to Glasgow Rangers.

Bassey recently moved to the ‘Gers from the Foxes on a free transfer, although he is reportedly said to have cost £230,000 in compensation. At 20 years of age, he is unlikely to be a guaranteed starter in Steven Gerrard’s starting XI, although he did score on his debut against Hamilton in a friendly and could be able to at least provide competition for Borna Barisic.

Talking to The Scottish Sun, Bassey said:

“I spoke to James Maddison about Scottish football as he was with Aberdeen.

“I asked about his experiences up here and he told me to give my all, work hard and do my thing on the training ground and when my chance comes along, then to take it.

“He thought I could do well, so hopefully he is right.

“It’s not an easy to make a decison on your future for someone as young as me, but as soon as Rangers came in it was a privilege to join a world-famous club.

“I took myself out of my comfort zone and moved away from family, but you’ve got to make some sacrifices and that’s one I had to make.

“I’m just focusing on where I’m at now and will do my ultimate to become as good as I can and fulfil my potential.”

Maddison previouslu had a loan spell at Aberdeen, hence why he was able to advise Bassey to move north of the border. The 23-year-old played 17 games for the Dons, scoring twice and providing seven assists. It clearly set him on the right path, with him since becoming an England international and currently being valued at £43.2m by Transfermarkt.
