So far this season, there has been very little consistency to Unai Emery’s offensive selections. In each of Arsenal’s four Premier League games to date, the former Sevilla boss has set up his attack differently, which has sometimes been to the detriment of his star forwards.

Alexandre Lacazette has been one of the main casualties. This campaign, he has started just two league matches, whilst Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has played from the off in every single one.

Against Tottenham, therefore, Emery had a call to make. The France international has previously shown his worth in the big games for the Gunners, and perhaps that is one of the reasons why he was included in the starting XI this time around. Whether it was or not, he proved his manager right as he put in a fantastic display in an intense match-up.

“It feels like a loss” – that was the view of a Spurs fan after this weekend’s North London Derby in the video below…

In front of goal, the former Lyon man was a menace and made sure that Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris had a busy afternoon. Lacazette lined up six shots, with only Nicolas Pepe having more, and only Christian Eriksen had more efforts on target than his three. Just like the Denmark international, Arsenal’s number nine got himself on the scoresheet, thrashing the ball into the back of the net after a couple of neat touches in the box.

He also impressed in other departments, as well. His two dribbles could only be bettered by Pepe, whilst he also made two tackles, which displayed his defensive contribution from the front of the pitch.

In the end, he wasn’t quite able to get the Gunners the three points, but considering they trailed 2-0, the Emirates outfit can be happy to come away with a draw. Unfortunately for Lacazette, his afternoon ended prematurely as he picked up an injury and was forced off with 25 minutes left. Emery and co will be hoping that he can recover quickly to be ready for after the international break.

Whilst his boss appears to have difficulty trusting him, the 28-year-old has once again proven his worth when it really matters in the big games.

The 23-year-old stated that it was a proud day for him and his family as he grew up in Leeds and supported the club from a young age.

He went on to thank his management team, before issuing a rallying cry stating that now his main focus is getting the club back where it belongs.

وبحسب شبكة “ESPN” العالمية، فإن كبار الشخصيات داخل مسؤولي البلوز، يشعرون بثقة كبيرة في قدرتهم على ضم النجم النرويجي في الصيف.

وأوضح التقرير أنّ مسؤولي تشيلسي، لديهم نية بتقديم عرض مالي كبير لـ نظرائهم في دورتموند، بالإضافة إلى إغراء صاحب الـ20 عامًا براتب كبير، من أجل نقله إلى “ستامفورد بريدج”.

هالاند يُقدم أداء أكثر من رائع مع بوروسيا دورتموند، وتمكن هذا الموسم، من إحراز 27 هدفًا في 27 مباراة، وقدم 8 تمريرات حاسمة.

تعرض الجنوب إفريقي مارك جونزاليس، مهاجم فريق ليفربول الإنجليزي السابق، لـ نوبة قلبية، نقل على أثرها إلى المُستشفى وفقًا لما ذكرته صحيفة “ذا صن” البريطانية.

ولم توضح الصحيفة السبب الذي تعرض بسببه صاحب الـ36 عامًا لأزمة قلبية، حيث تم نقله إلى المُستشفى بعد تدهور حالته.

ونقلت الصحيفة رسالة لزوجته مورا ريفيرا، حيث كتبت: “حب حياتي، توأم روحي، يا لها من صدمة أعطتني إياها”.

وأضافت: “كانت الليالي القليلة الماضية فظيعة، إن الأمر مُخيف حقًا، أكتب هذا لأنك ما زلت هنا معنا وأفضل قليلاً، إنه لأمر مدهش كيف يمكن أن يتغير كل شيء في لحظة”.

جونزاليس والذي يحمل الجنسية الجنوب إفريقية، والتشيلية، انتقل إلى ليفربول في صيف عام 2005، قادمًا من ألباسيتي الإسباني، وبعدها عامين انتقل إلى ريال بيتيس في 2007.

جونزاليس سجّل هدفين في 25 مباراة مع ليفربول، وكان ضمن الفريق الذي هُزم في نهائي دوري أبطال أوروبا بنتيجة 2-1 أمام ميلان في عام 2007.

Some Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to heap praise on Radhi Jaidi after he posted a tweet commemorating the 10th anniversary of his debut for the club.

Jaidi, who still works at St Mary’s as head coach of the Under-23 side, made 66 appearances for the Saints from 2009-2012.

He was a formidable centre-back and despite spending just three years on the South Coast, the 44-year-old appeared to make a real impression on some supporters, who continue to hold him in high regard – judging by their reactions to his post on Twitter.

One fan said that he’s “glad” Jaidi is still with the club and that he is a “top man”.

Another supporter called the 105-cap former Tunisia international a “role model” – it’s safe to say he made a name for himself in his three years at St Mary’s.

Exciting times lie ahead, as well. Greenwood is set to be unleashed by boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during Thursday night’s clash against FC Astana, with the 1999 treble maestro claiming that the youngster is already one of the finest finishers he’s ever seen.

While speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, John Hartson explained that Teemu Pukki’s failure to make the grade at Celtic was simply another example of a common occurrence throughout the sport. 

Everybody loves an underdog and Norwich City are flying the flag for the humble outsider in the Premier League this season. Tied within the wider story of the newly-promoted side is another underdog story in the shape of Pukki, the prolific centre-forward who is taking the top flight by storm. 

But, unlike plenty of the outstanding individuals within Norwich’s ranks, including Todd Cantwell and Jamal Lewis, Pukki is not a youngster aiming to make a name for himself; he is an experienced late bloomer who struggled to make his mark at Schalke, Sevilla and Celtic.

The Finland international’s experience at Paradise was modest at best, with a return of 9 goals in 38 matches in all-competitions underlining the mediocrity of his goal scoring prowess in Scotland. 

With that in mind, FFC asked Hartson whether he was surprised by the regularity at which he has found the net since signing for Norwich in 2018, and his response effectively encapsulated the idea that footballing success is determined by a combination of intricate factors. 

“He’s one of them who just went under the radar and was let go. But I think that happens sometimes, you know there’s there’s loads of players that have gone to certain clubs and not done it and been let go. 

“You look at Mo Salah, one of the best players in the world and Chelsea let him go. You look at De Bruyne one of the best players in the world and Chelsea let him go. Sometimes these things happen.

“You find the club where you’re happy in your environment and you play great football and you manage to excel.

“I’m delighted for him because I do like to see players surprise a few people in the top flight. A lot of people are surprised and I’m pleased for him. He’s absolutely flying right now.”

The examples of Salah and De Bruyne are pertinent here as they serve to prove how particular circumstances aren’t conducive to success – even for some of the best players in the game. 

Pukki is clearly not on the same level as the aforementioned pairing, but there are certainly comparisons to be drawn between the three players and how their respective careers have unfolded. 

Tactical systems, teammates and managers are all factors – amongst many others – that contribute towards a striker’s goal scoring form, and it seems that Pukki has now found an environment in which the various pieces of the jigsaw have fallen into place – something that clearly eluded him during his time at Celtic.

This weekend, Barcelona are travelling away to Getafe on matchday seven of the ongoing La Liga campaign. And interestingly enough, they will come face to face with a familiar name on the other side of the pitch who will definitely have to be contained.

Two of Barcelona’s biggest weaknesses will be put to the test this Saturday evening.

Blaugrana are one of those squads that are dominant at home but struggle immensely when playing as guests. So far this season and across all competitions, they are yet to tally a victory on the road.

And this brings us to the second aspect they’re struggling with – keeping a clean sheet. In the six games they’ve played in La Liga, the Catalan giants have conceded a total of ten goals already.

With that in mind, Nelson Semedo will have to be on his best when facing up against Barcelona’s own loanee, Marc Cucurella.

Familiar faces

Cucurella is a product of La Masia but Blaugrana seemingly felt a loan could do him a world of good at the moment.

And as it seems, they weren’t really wrong. The 21-year-old has been one of Getafe’s best performers so far, ranking in third according to Whoscored’s algorithm.

On Saturday evening, it is likely that he will come face to face with Semedo and stopping their young loanee might be crucial for Barcelona.

The Portuguese right-back is also having a decent season in La Liga. So far, he tallied 2.3 tackles, one interception and 1.2 fouls per game. Cucurella, on the hand, has 2.8 tackles, 0.7 interceptions and two fouls per game to his name.

Currently, the 21-year-old is being played as a left-midfielder but he is very much a left-back by trade who’s versatile enough to be slotted higher up the pitch.

As a result, he has a pretty good offensive record as well, tallying two assists, 1.5 shots per game and 1.3 key passes per game in La Liga up until this point.

Semedo, however, is not really an attacking asset with only 0.3 shots and 0.3 key passes per game under his belt, but with one assist as well.

Still, the victor of this clash might just be decided by the two players’ direct confrontation on Saturday and which one can drop a better offensive display while also putting in a good defensive shift.
