Opinion: West Brom should make an ambitious January loan move for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah

[ad_pod ]

West Brom boss Darren Moore should look to sign Arsenal youngster Eddie Nketiah on loan in January to bolster his attacking options.

What’s the situation?

The Baggies have had a strong start to the season after Moore was given the managerial job on a permanent basis in the summer and allowed to build a team that could challenge for promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The West Midlands side currently sit in fifth place in the Championship table having won eight, drawn four and lost five of their first 17 matches.

However, Moore’s side are by far the highest scorers in the league with an incredible 37 goals bagged so far in this campaign. This is largely down to the hugely impressive front three which includes Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle up top, with youngster Harvey Barnes just in behind them.

However, when Gayle was out injured recently it visibly upset the balance of the Baggies team and Moore could only call upon Hal Robson-Kanu as a replacement, so this position may be somewhere he looks to strengthen in January.

The Playmaker FC squad decided to wind-up some unsuspecting Brazil fans at the Emirates on Saturday night. Watch the hilarious results in the video below…

The loan market

The Baggies boss then should look to Arsenal and their huge young talent Eddie Nketiah, who could benefit from a half-season loan to the Championship.

The 19-year-old has made ten appearances for the Arsenal first-team since making his debut as a late substitute in a Europa League clash with BATE Borisov in September 2017. During that time, he has netted two goals, with both coming in a League Cup tie with Norwich.

Nketiah also has three goals in three appearances for the England U20 side though and two in four for Aidy Boothroyd’s U21s, proving that he is a natural finisher and could be perfect for West Brom.

Moore then must test the Gunners and see if they are willing to loan out one of their brightest academy talents who would surely help the Baggies achieve that promotion straight back up to the top flight.

So, West Brom fans, would you like to see Moore target Nketiah in January or would you be against another loan deal? Have your say by voting in the poll below.

Arsenal should offer Marco Reus a chance in the Premier League whatever the cost

Unai Emery has made a massive impact on the Arsenal squad since replacing Arsene Wenger in the summer.

The Gunners have made plenty of progress in a short space of time since the Spaniard took the reins back in May. Replacing the legendary Frenchman was always going to be difficult, but Emery seems to have already formed a good connection with the Emirates faithful. With results improving steadily, Arsenal fans will be hoping the club can secure a return to the Champions League at the end of the season.

The January transfer window is now less than two months away, and the former PSG boss will again have the opportunity to strengthen his squad. With Danny Welbeck set for a long spell on the sidelines, Emery would be wise to bolster his attacking options in the New Year.

The man who should be at the top of his shortlist is Borussia Dortmund superstar – Marco Reus. Valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, the German burst on the scene at Borussia Monchengladbach before Dortmund quickly secured his services. Reus’ exceptional form continued making him one of the world’s most courted talents at one point in his career. With injuries hurting his progress in recent years, the winger has finally rediscovered his best form.

Reus can’t stop scoring in the Bundesliga at the moment, with eight goals and five assists in just 11 appearances so far this season. The 29-year-old has thrived in a central role in Germany and linking up with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang again would cause plenty of headaches for Premier League defences. Adding Reus to their already strong attacking outlet could be the boost Arsenal need to guarantee a top-four finish in the Premier League.

The Germany international is playing the best football of his career and is ready-made for Emery’s 4-2-3-1 system. The time is right to bring him to England finally.

Middlesbrough Injury News: Tony Pulis concerned over Lewis Wing injury

[ad_pod ]

Tony Pulis has described Lewis Wing’s injury as concerning after the 23-year-old was forced off against Preston North End.

What’s the word?

Wing had started the Tuesday night affair away to Preston but was forced off early into the second half.

The central midfielder, playing on the left flank, had been heavily involved in the action before his substitution, with the second-highest touches of the ball of any Boro player as well as committing four tackles.

The Newton Aycliffe-born ace even made a successful last-ditch tackle to prevent the hosts from opening the scoring, but is said to have complained at the break of feeling unwell.

Teesside Live quote Pulis saying after the match: “That was a bit of a concern tonight because you don’t really want to see a player coming off because he feels giddy or a little bit sick.

“The doctor will assess him tomorrow [Wednesday], and we’ll see what the cause of it is, and take it from there.

“I think he went and complained that he felt a bit giddy at half time. Then obviously after a couple of minutes, he didn’t feel brilliant, so we brought him off.”

The Playmaker FC squad decided to wind-up some unsuspecting Brazil fans at the Emirates on Saturday night. Watch the hilarious results in the video below…

Who could step in?

When Pulis decided that Wing must come off, the dependable Jonny Howson came on, and the 60-year-old coach switched formation to a 4-3-3.

Howson has started 15 matches so far this season, the second most of Middlesbrough’s central midfielders, but found himself on the bench on Tuesday night as his manager opted to start with a 4-2-3-1.

What formation the head coach prefers for the visit of Aston Villa will force his hand regarding selection, but given how well his side fared in the second half after drawing level, sticking with a three-man midfield would better set his team for the confident Villans.

In the first half at Deepdale, Boro only held 32.6% of the ball, but the change brought with it more possession and a better selection of chances to push on and win. In the end, an eighth draw of the season dropped Middlesbrough from second to third.

Everton must find a strike partner for Richarlison in January

[ad_pod ]

Everton were once again beaten by their old foes at Anfield on Sunday, and the performance of Richarlison revealed the one mistake the Toffees made in the transfer market.

Everton went toe-to-toe with Liverpool on Sunday, outplaying the Reds for large parts of the match, especially in the first half.

Marco Silva and director of football Marcel Brands have completely changed the culture at the club, building a squad that shows up to play football, not just to try and scrape a result.

Andre Gomes was the star of the show and Yerry Mina was an absolute beast at the back, but the performance of Richarlison should be more than a little concerning for the boss, perhaps proving they should have signed a recognised striker this summer.

The 21 year-old had an extremely difficult job playing up front on his own against the in-form Joe Gomez and colossal Virgil van Dijk, and it almost felt like the Toffees were wasting their most talented player.

Haven’t seen Paul Pogba’s latest strange photoshoot? You need to check out the video below…

Richarlison is lethal when he is on the ball, capable of skipping past several players, drawing challenges and providing goals.

He took just one shot in the derby though, and spent most of the game isolated with at least one of Gomez or van Dijk glued to his back.

The youngster was fouled six times, showing he is more than capable of battling with the big boys, but he didn’t manage a single key pass or successful dribble.

If Silva wants to get the best out of the dynamic Brazilian, he cannot play him up front alone, especially in big games.

The Toffees should absolutely be looking to sign a natural goalscorer who can play off the likes of Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson, which could be really bad news for the out-of-form Cenk Tosun.

So, Everton fans, do you need a striker in January? Is Richarlison better on the wing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

Alfredo Morelos and Allan McGregor are Rangers’ stars of 2018

When looking back on 2018 as a whole, Rangers will have mixed memories about what the year entailed for them.

Graeme Murty had been overseeing first-team affairs and caught himself in some controversy with Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace after an alleged dressing-room bust-up following their defeat in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

He was replaced in the summer with the arrival of Steven Gerrard, who looks to have brought the good times back to Ibrox.

Under the inexperienced manager, the Light Blues are heading into the end of 2018 as a Scottish Premiership title challenger, as well as having a good chance of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Europa League.

And, two men have starred for Rangers in 2018 to help them be in the position that they are currently in. Should the duo continue to perform in a way that they have been, who knows what Gerrard’s team could achieve in 2019.

Alfredo Morelos

There may not be a single player at Rangers that is more important than Alfredo Morelos at the moment.

The Colombia international striker has been an excellent addition to the side and is arguably one of the only good things Pedro Caixinha managed to do during his ill-fated time in Scotland.

Morelos has hit 35 goals in his 71 matches across all competitions so far in his Rangers career and ‘El Bufalo’ has quickly become a favourite with the fans.

Despite his rather poor disciplinary record, there has not been a man more important to the Light Blues’ efforts than the 22-year-old and if he has a successful 2019, it could be a great year for those at Ibrox.

Allan McGregor

Allan McGregor made his return to Rangers in the summer transfer window after six-years away from the club and has quickly re-established himself as a key man.

The 36-year-old dislodged Wes Foderingham immediately and his performances for the Light Blues have been second to none.

The Scotland international has made a number of match-winning saves and is a big reason as to why Gerrard’s side currently find themselves in the position they are in within the league and Europa League.

With all the signings the Liverpool legend made in the summer, and there were many, McGregor may have been his best addition and will be key in the Bluenoses’ efforts in trying to finally bring some silverware back to Ibrox in 2019.

Kieran Dowell loan suits both Rangers and Everton

According to talkSPORT, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is interested in signing Everton youngster Kieran Dowell on loan.

This news has emerged after former loanee Ovie Ejaria left Ibrox in the past few days to return to Liverpool. In his absence, Gerrard has been quick to look for his new options in the midfield.

The 21-year-old Dowell has struggled to work his way into Everton’s first team so far this season, and has only featured for the club in the League Cup. In order to get more game time and exposure at the top end of football, this would be a move that suits Everton perfectly.

However, it would be Rangers who are set to benefit from this move if it is to come off. Dowell had a wonderful spell last season at Nottingham Forest, racking up nine goals and four assists in 38 games at The City Ground. For an attacking midfielder, nine goals is a healthy return, and for a team like Rangers, that could prove to be invaluable.

The Gers do not particularly rely on their midfielders to provide goals, rather depend on their strikers. Of course, this is what is expected in football, but goals from midfield just add extra potency to a team’s attack- manager Steven Gerrard is proof of this more than anyone.

Therefore, this is a move that will suit both Everton and Rangers, as well as Dowell himself. The England under-21 international will be desperate to prove himself, and Ibrox may be the place to do so.

Everton fans react to Aleksandar Mitrovic reports

[ad_pod ]Everton fans have been reacting to claims that their club could move for Fulham centre-forward Aleksandar Mitrovic in the January transfer window.Mitrovic only joined Fulham permanently during the summer, with the Cottagers paying £20m to land the striker from Newcastle United. The 24-year-old has scored seven Premier League goals for Fulham this season, but the team are currently rooted to the bottom of the table on nine points.According to The Mirror, Everton are keeping a close eye on developments with Mitrovic as they consider a move. The Merseyside club’s fans have been on social media offering their opinions on the report, and it would be fair to say that not everyone is in agreement.Whilst some want Mitrovic due to the team’s current lack of options at centre-forward, others feel that the Serbian would not be a good fit.A selection of the Twitter reaction can be seen below:

FIFA 19 Career Mode Guide: Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace can do with some fresh ideas, as the south London side have occasionally been found lacking in the Premier League under Roy Hodgson.

There are easier positions to take elsewhere in the league, so Football FanCast have delved into FIFA 19’s Career Mode to provide you with an in-depth team guide for the Eagles.

The board’s expectations

Take on the Selhurst Park job and the board will hope you can guide the club to a mid-table finish, but their main focus is to control player earnings by keeping growth below 10%.

Even though it’s the least of their demands, the board would also like you to sign one defender to the youth ranks and reach the FA Cup’s Round of 16.

The transfer kitty

Palace’s budget for your first season in charge comes in at £42.4million with a £113k wage allowance, but, bearing in mind the most important board expectation, you can only realistically spend £94,000 of the allowance without players leaving.

Three players to buy

Josef Martinez

Despite having one of FIFA’s former best strikers in Christian Benteke, the addition of a top-draw forward would be a welcome addition at Selhurst Park.

Atlanta United’s Josef Martinez would certainly fit the bill and compliment Wilfried Zaha, but the pacey and strong finisher will cost around £22.5million, and the MLS side are tough negotiators.

Franco Cervi

Should you prefer playing Zaha as a strike, then look no further than Benfica’s Franco Cervi to fill the wide slot.

The Argentine has 5-star skills and will set you back around £19m, but he is beautiful on the ball and can develop a delightful range of passes.

Amine Harit

Sticking with improving the Palace offence, Schalke’s Amine Harit is a player worth considering. The 21-year-old can play on the right-wing or as a central attacking midfielder and is certainly a star for the future.

The Moroccan has a £23million asking price and would be great to build a team around, providing you plan on spending multiple seasons with the Eagles.

Watch the video below to check out the hilarious things footballers get up to at Christmas…

Three players to sell

Jason Puncheon

Injuries cost Jason Puncheon the best years of his career, and it’s about time his stint at his childhood club came to an end.

At 32, he’s not going to be the base of a high-flying Palace squad, and with a board of average attributes, will only be worthy of occasional cup matches to rest first-team stars.

Connor Wickham

Hereford-born Connor Wickham is another player dogged by injuries at Palace, and it has seen his FIFA stats reflect a lack of minutes.

He can still fetch a fair transfer price, and would be a peripheral player should you keep him at the club.

Wayne Hennessey

It may always be good to have two goalkeepers on the books that can play for the first-team, but in the case of Wayne Hennessey, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers regularly should be transfer listed.

The 31-year-old is no match for Guaita, yet still demands to be an important member of the side – a hard act to balance when the Spaniard has a crucial role signed into his contract.

Three for the future

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Croydon-born Aaron Wan-Bissaka may already be a first choice starter at Crystal Palace, but the 20-year-old is certainly one of their players for the future.

The right-back will start 74 rated with great pace, dribbling and tackling yet can jump ten ratings over his career to a potential 84, tying in better strength, passing and interceptions.

Jairo Riedewald

Central-defensive midfielder Jairo Riedewald may not become a first name on the teamsheet kind of player, but the Ajax product can turn into a useful member of the squad, thanks to his ability to play central midfield or defensive role to the same level.

At first, that is at a 73 rating, but can move on to be 80 rated with well-rounded defensive attributes and passing.

Nya Kirby

If you are thinking long-term in your career with Crystal Palace, certainly spare a thought for 18-year-old Nya Kirby, despite his low 59 rating.

The attacking midfielder is the brightest spark in the Eagles’ youth ranks, with a potential rating 20 levels higher than his fellow youth team mates.

You will need to work on his passing, shooting and strength throughout his career, however, as at first, all he has to fall on is pace and dribbling.

HYS: Should Charlton sign MK Dons forward Chuks Aneke?

Charlton are having a good season under former Birmingham star Lee Bowyer this season in what is his first taste of management. The Addicks currently sit fifth in League One and are just six points off second-placed Luton – table toppers Portsmouth are 11 points ahead, and presumably out of reach in all honesty.

However, Bowyer’s men only need to sneak into that second automatic promotion spot to avoid the anguish of the play-offs, and they may do just that if they bring in a prolific, hungry goalscorer who can light up the second half of their season.

The south London side already have two in-form forwards in their ranks in Lyle Taylor and Karlan Grant, who have scored 11 and 12 goals respectively in League One.

Check out Neymar’s controversial new haircut for 2019 and Xherdan Shaqiri as you’ve never seen him before in the video below…

However, given the fact that the pair start alongside each other, there is no firepower to come off the bench if the duo fail to produce the goods in a game that perhaps doesn’t go their way.

As a result, they should look to bring League Two star and MK Dons hitman Chuks Aneke to the Valley this month to give themselves a great chance at promotion back to the Championship.

The 25-year-old has hit 13 goals in all competitions so far this season, and looks a real handful for defenders.

Revealed: 75% of polled Crystal Palace fans don’t want the club to sell Mamadou Sakho

Following news of Monaco’s interest in Mamadou Sakho, much has been made of whether the Frenchman’s current club Crystal Palace would be better off cashing in on their asset, or simply fending off the Ligue 1 side’s advances.

The Eagles splashed out around £26m on the centre-back when they signed him from Liverpool back in the summer of 2017, and have been rewarded for their faith in him with some excellent performances.

Sakho is a player of real class and pedigree, and his recent return to the international scene with France appears to have seen his stock rise once again.

Check out Neymar’s controversial new haircut for 2019 and Xherdan Shaqiri as you’ve never seen him before in the video below…

However, with Roy Hodgson’s side still in a fight for their Premier League status, the decision to cash in on Sakho has been a tough one – should they sell arguably their best defender in years in order to fund a move for a striker, or should they keep the 28-year-old?

We asked Palace fans that exact question, and a whopping 75% of those who voted said that they’d rather keep the former PSG man at Selhurst Park, as shown by the results below…
