Ex-Tottenham Hotspur player wants Martial if club sell Rose

Danny Rose has been heavily linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur after he publicly criticised the club in the summer. The speculation intensified when the left-back was left out of the squad for the recent North London derby, which ended in a 2-0 defeat for Spurs. The Gambling TimesÂclaims that Rose has been given the green light to leave the club in January, with Manchester United and Chelsea harbouring an interest. The left-back has been part of the Tottenham fold since 2007, but after he criticised the club’s transfer activity and ambition before the start of the season, questions have been raised over his future.Graham Roberts, who spent six years playing for the North London outfit, has given his take on the situation. The 58-year-old believes that if United want Rose, then they should include Anthony Martial in the deal.As a direct replacement for the England international, Roberts wants Fulham teenager Ryan Sessegnon.

Rangers fans destroyed Eduardo Herrera after defeat to Dundee

Rangers fans are again searching for answers after a demoralising defeat, with Neil McCann’s Dundee the latest team to pick up a victory over the Light Blues.

The Friday night fixture at Dens was an opportunity for Graeme Murty’s side to bounce back from a shock defeat at home to Hamilton last weekend but instead the Dees, who were bottom of the Scottish Premiership prior to kick-off, piled on the misery with a 2-1 win.

Mark O’Hara was the hero for the Tayside club, netting twice to cancel out Josh Windass’ powerful equaliser.

Supporters were left fuming with the performance and didn’t miss many players who under-performed with criticism on social media.

One star who was more criticised than most was summer signing Eduardo Herrera. He came on just before half-time for the injured Alfredo Morelos but failed to do much in the game at all.

The Mexican international has scored just one goal in 11 league matches and fans are now negatively comparing him to failed strikers of the past.

Supporters took to Twitter to share their thoughts…

Neville posts controversial tweet following Everton, Liverpool clash

The Merseyside derby has always been more than a Premier League match, and sometimes current form plays no part in the result.

Liverpool had been flying heading into the contest at Anfield having scored 15 goals in their last three games in all competitions.

Everton had only just turned a corner with the arrival of Sam Allardyce as manager following a torrid run that dropped the club down towards the relegation zone.

On Sunday, the Reds dominated on home soil, while Everton failed to get out of their own half, especially in the first half when Mohamed Salah struck to put the hosts ahead.

Jurgen Klopp’s men failed to make the most of their chances, though, and a nudge on Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Dejan Lovren in the box gave the Toffees a penalty.

Wayne Rooney converted in the 77th minute and Allardyce’s men were able to see out the match in what could turn out to be a crucial draw for the men in blue.

Phil Neville spent eight years playing for the Toffees in his career, so combine that with his history at Manchester United and it becomes clear where the pundit’s loyalties lie.

Even though Everton did not win the match, the former England international suggested on Twitter that the bragging rights belonged to Goodison Park.

Sections of Everton fans post how they would feel if Martinez won World Cup with Belgium

Roberto Martinez was a much-loved figure among the Everton faithful in the early stages of his career as manager at Goodison Park.

The Spaniard implemented a style of football that was easy on the eye and he managed to avoid defeat in his first six games in charge.

The 2013-14 campaign was a positive one for the Toffees as Martinez guided them to fifth in the Premier League table, but the club were unable to repeat that feat in the following season.

The Merseyside outfit lingered towards the relegation zone but managed to escape a drop into the Championship.

In the 2015-16 season, Martinez started getting on the wrong side of the fans, with many calling for his head before the campaign came to a close.

With just one match left on the calendar, Everton made the decision to part ways with the Spaniard, who left the Toffees in 12th at the time.

Just three months later, Martinez took over as Belgium head coach, and at the moment he is experiencing a good run as the team have made it into the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Russia.

The Red Devils completed their job in dramatic fashion as Nacer Chadli nabbed the winner in a 3-2 triumph over Japan deep into stoppage time.

After the result, some Everton fans took to Reddit to express how they would feel if Martinez took Belgium all the way, and the majority hope that he does despite his dismal final months as Toffees boss.

Lascelles, Zouma much better options for Liverpool than Vida

It’s safe to say that Liverpool are putting together a squad that is going to compete with City for the league next year.

Aside from a new goalkeeper or central defender, Liverpool have one of the best teams in Europe. The front three is absolutely devastating while the midfield got a facelift this summer with the arrivals of Fabinho and Naby Keita.

At the back, however, the Reds need to upgrade desperately. While the signing of Virgil Van Dijk improved Liverpool massively, Klopp needs to get the dominant centreback an adequate partner. Dejan Lovren has at times shown flashes that he might be ok for the team but overall, he just makes far too many mistakes.

Due to the Croatian’s form, Liverpool have been on the hunt for a new defender, and have been strongly linked with his international teammate Domagoj Vida. According to Fanatik, Liverpool have now submitted a second bid of £18 million for the Besiktas defender. He may be a solid defender but if Liverpool have any sense, they should consider signing one of these two defenders.

The Newcastle captain has been subject to a bid from West Ham, which was rejected by Newcastle.

An absolute rock for Benitez, at only Lascelles, was an integral part in Newcastle only conceding 47 goals last season. At only 24, the defender has shown incredible maturity and leadership since he joined the club.

Similar to Van Dijk in terms of physicality, Lascelles would give Liverpool an impenetrable defence.

Although he’s only 23, it feels like Zouma has been playing at the top level for about a decade.

Following a terrible injury two seasons ago, Zouma spent last year on loan at Stoke City where he managed to play 34 games. He seems like he might be surplus to goods at Chelsea, therefore a cut-price deal could be on the cards for Liverpool. A rock and a player with a point to prove, he could rediscover his very best form at Anfield.

Suggested Solutions: Who should be the man to add pace to Everton’s attack?

Before Sam Allardyce was parachuted into Goodison Park to use his overly cautious style to ‘save’ an Everton side that would likely have survived relegation regardless, Ronald Koeman’s Toffees revolution turned sour.

Summer optimism turned to autumn despair as it swiftly became apparent that the Dutch legend had purchased two many players in the same mould.

That in turn meant that Everton were unable to unlock any invention or craft; their raft of number tens all wished to operate in the same areas and while the side was crying out for pace and dynamism, the options available were sub-standard.

The return from injury of Yannick Bolasie and the January purchase of Theo Walcott went some way to rectifying that but more is still needed if Silva is to oversee the Goodison revolution he has been brought in to achieve.

So, Football FanCast has taken a look at four potential pacy forward options that the former Watford manager could turn to in order to rejuvenate his stagnant frontline…

Richarlison

It was Silva who gambled on bringing the Brazilian forward to Vicarage Road last summer and he hit the ground running as the Hornets rampaged up the table.

However, Richarlison ran out of steam around the turn of the year – around the time Silva’s head was turned by Everton – and never recovered even under Javi Gracia.

It is little surprise that Silva has been linked with a reunion with the man who Transfermarkt value at £22.5m – he could well be the man to draw out Richarlison’s best form on a consistent basis.

Danny Welbeck

Welbeck has just one year left on his Arsenal deal and is reportedly among the most at risk as Unai Emery seeks to trim his bloated Gunners squad after a summer of early-window investment.

He is also reportedly on Silva’s radar with one eye on a cut-price deal, especially if Emery decides that returning loanee Lucas Perez should jump ahead of him in the pecking order.

Welbeck is much derided but there is plenty of evidence on the side of the case for the defence; he only struggled to reach his potential due to injury, he is a diligent runner, tactically clever, with good international and Champions League experience to boot.

He can play through the middle or on either flank and would be a smart – if unfashionable – purchase who need not cost the earth.

Malcom

Bordeaux wideman Malcom is another player Everton have been linked with, and it would be another gamble from Silva on a player with no Premier League experience.

However, he is one of the hottest prospects in Ligue 1, with pace to burn and an impressive eye for goal and he could well be another Richarlison.

An unknown quantity could add something extra to Silva’s Goodison revolution and he could prove to be worth every penny.

Marcus Rashford (on loan)

One man who has not been linked with Everton is Marcus Rashford, but he would be quite the coup if Silva could get him on a season-long loan deal.

Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial all offer competition out wide and Romelu Lukaku looks immovable through the middle, so there is little sign that the England international will get more gametime in 2018/19.

If Everton could offer the United academy graduate the promise of regular games out on the left, he could well be tempted and what a statement of intent it would be…

TT Introduces: Angel Gomes

Leeds United have already signed two players on loan from Chelsea this summer, but with time remaining to make further acquisitions in the transfer market there’s every reason to suggest they should target a wonderkid who is making great strides at Manchester United.

Leeds and Man United famously have one of the most toxic and passionate rivalries in English football, so transfers between the two clubs are far from common.

However, Marcelo Bielsa will be eager to add exciting attacking players to his ranks before the window slams shut who can inject spark into his side’s play in the final-third, and one player who could be a revelation in the Championship is Angel Gomes.

Gomes is widely regarded as one of the best attacking talents to emerge from United’s academy in recent years, and he’s a youngster who certainly possesses the potential to become a first-team regular at Old Trafford in the years to come.

Last season Gomes managed to notch 14 goals and provide 7 assists from just 22 appearances in the U18 Premier League whilst predominantly operating in a number ten role, although it’s well worth noting that he can play in an inside-left role as well.

But with competition for places so intense at United, Gomes will certainly struggle to break into the senior squad as early as next season, so a season-long loan should be in his best interests.

The Championship is a notoriously physical league which will undoubtedly pose a huge challenge for Gomes who stands at just 5’3, but the challenge is one which will only enable him to learn and improve for the future.

Besides, Gomes’ blistering level of pace and confidence in one vs one situations should allow him to bypass defenders at will in the Championship and improve his rather inconsistent decision-making in the final-third.

With no significant experience in the Premier League under his belt just yet it would represent a huge step up for Gomes to move to Elland Road this summer but, considering his enormous level of potential and progress at youth level, it could be the perfect time for him to step out of his comfort zone.

Tottenham fans hope for the best as Kovacic tell Real Madrid he wants to leave

Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Mateo Kovacic has told Real Madrid he wants to leave the club this summer, according to Spanish news outlet Marca.

The 24-year-old central midfielder has been at the Bernabeu since signing from Inter Milan in 2015 but has understandably found it difficult to displace the imperious Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in midfield.

He has made 73 league appearances for Real Madrid, half of which have come via the bench.

The technically gifted Croatian, who was part of his his country’s fine World Cup campaign, is a reported target for Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City, but Tottenham will be hoping to steal a march on their Premier League rivals.

With Mousa Dembele looking like he could be leaving White Hart Lane this summer, Mauricio Pochettino will want reinforcements in midfield and Kovacic could certainly do that job if Spurs pay something close to his £27million valuation on Transfermarkt.

Spurs fans have been reacting to the news that Kovacic has reportedly requested to leave Real Madrid and it’s clear they want to see the player lining up for them next season.

Revealed: 71% of West Ham fans want to sign Coquelin

West Ham fans have been discussing who they should sign to replace their outgoing midfielders, and a surprising 71 per cent of fans think former Gunner Francis Coquelin would be a shrewd signing.

According to Sky Sports, the Hammers are in “advanced talks” to sell Obiang back to Sampdoria.

Sky Sports have since claimed that the Hammers would like to keep the wiry midfielder, but if the player feels his first team opportunities will be limited he could still head back to Italy.

It seems like if Obiang does leave then the first choice to replace him is Southampton’s Mario Lemina, and West Ham fans think they should make it a double swoop by adding Coquelin.

[brid autoplay=”true” video=”274376″ player=”12034″ title=”The Consequences of West Ham Selling Obiang”]

Coquelin now plays for Valencia, and averaged 2.2 aerial wins, two tackles, 2.2 interceptions, and 2.6 clearances per game in La Liga last season.

Adding the tough tackling Frenchman to the potential capture of Lemina would allow the Hammers to let both Obiang and Cheikhou Kouyate leave.

Fans clearly think it’s a good idea, as 71 per cent voted for the move. You can find the full poll results down below…

Tomas Kalas would be the perfect replacement for wantaway Craig Dawson at West Brom

According to the Express and Star, West Brom are so far refusing to budge on their £20m asking price for defender Craig Dawson, with The Mirror reporting that Celtic and Leicester are both interested.

What’s the story?

The Mirror also reports that Dawson has been excluded from West Brom training by manager Darren Moore after the centre-back submitted a transfer request at the start of July following the Baggies’ relegation from the Premier League.

In the Express and Star’s report they claim that Dawson and striker Jay Rodriguez were the subject of a joint £25m bid from Burnley which was rejected by the Baggies. They also say that the hierarchy at West Brom see Alfie Mawson’s imminent £20m move to Fulham as further proof that they have valued their man correctly.

However, if Dawson is training alone and will not be included in the squad by Moore for their opening game of the Championship season against Bolton this weekend, as The Mirror seems to suggest, then it would be wise for West Brom to offload him and bring in a replacement before the window shuts on August 9.

An ideal replacement

If West Brom do decide to eventually let Dawson leave, they should look to replace him with Chelsea’s Czech defender Tomas Kalas. The 25-year-old has only made four appearances for the Blues having been on six separate loan spells in his eight years with the club.

For the past two seasons, Kalas has been on loan in the Championship with Fulham and The Daily Star reported earlier in the transfer window that he and fellow Chelsea loanee Lucas Piazon were to make their switches to Craven Cottage permanent, but as of yet neither have been confirmed.

Kalas made 36 appearances for Fulham last season, helping the West London side to promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs. An assured centre-back with a good turn of pace and the ability to read the game, the Czech Republic international should be the first name on Moore’s list of potential replacements for Dawson.
